We have an exciting opportunity for a talented graduate level Energy Consultant to join our Total Utilities Management team in our brand new London office.
Our UK Energy team sits within Buro Happold Cities and contains over 35 engineers, scientists, geographers and commercialisation consultants. The teamwork throughout the project lifecycle from national scale spatial energy system analytics through to detail design of some of the most innovative district energy and smart grid installation.

We have three Energy-related Graduate roles available for an Autumn 2024 start. A Graduate Energy Engineer role in London and our Northern offices, then a Commercial & Utilities role in London and a SMART (Electrical or Chemical) role in Leeds, London or Bath.

Our very strong portfolio of work includes:
- Enabling large schemes like football stadiums and concert venues to be connected to the electricity and water grids
- Providing commercial advise and support to customers on how to buy or sell energy
- Analysing data to determine if low carbon heat networks and renewable energy schemes are viable and advising customers how to ensure their scheme is viable
- Helping customers buy and sell assets by providing financial models and commercial advice to ensure commercial success
- Advising property developers on potential purchases
- Running procurement events for clients to ensure value for money for their development and providing strategic advice on the best approach to take.
The Cities Energy team specialises in enabling low carbon projects and the journey to net zero and works on exciting high-profile projects. We aim to deliver value for our clients using a wide range of solutions to resolve energy security, costs and sustainability challenges across the range of sectors and markets in which Buro Happold operates. We are looking for a passionate Graduate to help us drive this agenda and deliver energy solutions for the 21st century.
About you:
- Currently pursuing or completed a degree (BEng or Meng) in Electrical Engineering, Economics or another numerate discipline
- Strong interest in infrastructure and project delivery
- Interest and exposure to utilities in the UK especially power
- Possessing initiative and able to thrive in a team environment
- Able to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner, verbally and in writing
- Comfortable executing project deliverables within a given timeframe.

How long does the process take?
The recruitment timeline can vary depending on the role and team you are applying to.
