Graduate Social Emotional Teaching Assistant
Position Breakdown:
- Monday - Friday, 8:20 am - 3:45 pm, September 2024 Start
- Supporting students with learning needs with their Social, Emotional & Behavioural development (within a Mainstream Primary School)
- Liaising with SENCO & SLT with access to Lambeth Borough professionals including Educational Psychologists, Therapists, Counsellors
- Graduate Scheme - position is beneficial for graduates from Psychology backgrounds (degree level) with aspirations in getting into Psychology, Therapy etc

Responsibilities of a SE Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting students within KS1 &/or KS2 with various needs (ADHD, ASD, trauma-related difficulties etc) with their social, emotional & behavioural well-being
- Supporting these students 1:1 & in groups with support from team members
- Monitoring progression in line with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP)
- Understanding strategies that will effectively help students gain more independence in learning while working with the SENCO & sometimes, the children's parents
Skills Built:Our connections to qualified Therapists & Clinical Psychologists etc have allowed us to prioritise skills built within this role to support your career progression
- Counselling skills
- Ability to understand people's reactions
- Analytical thinking skills
- Knowledge of social, emotional & mental health during developmental phase
Primary School Information:
- Located in Lambeth (ease of access via public transport or driving)
- Weekly pay through PAYE - £435 - £505
- Training readily available
- 2-3 form entry school - tight knit, wholesome environment
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong academic background - degree level is ideal to benefit from this position, however is not essential (Psychology, Education Studies etc)
- Prior experience/knowledge of SEN/SEMH with either adults or children
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults/children either at a personal or professional level
- A willingness to learn
