Lead the development of academic strategy and the enhancement of learning and teaching across the School, implementing initiatives that promote innovation and support the development of good practice emerging from pedagogical research and scholarship. Chair the Learning Teaching and Assessment Committee, overseeing progress against the School’s learning and teaching strategy. Develop and manage resources, policies and processes to support the continuous professional development of the academic team and staff in roles supporting learning and teaching. Identify opportunities to enhance student engagement, including opportunities to develop new approaches to learning, teaching and assessment in partnership with students. Ensure that IML’s approaches to learning, teaching and assessment support an equitable and inclusive educational experience for all students. Pedagogy- Drawing upon current research and scholarship, create a culture of innovative, inclusive and effective pedagogy. Work with academics, professional staff and students to identify, understand and establish priorities for learning and teaching that secure enhanced currency, student experience and graduate employability. Lead initiatives for the development, dissemination and recognition of good practice in learning and teaching. Learning & Development- Establish expectations for continuous professional development and implement a range of opportunities for pedagogical development, professional engagement and scholarship that align with the Professional Standards Framework and other sector reference points. Oversee the increasing professionalisation of the School’s faculty, to support IML’s development as a leading provider of international higher education. Oversee the School’s peer observation scheme, support academics to gain professional recognition and work with Programme Leaders to identify training priorities. Ensure that those who teach or support learning are enabled to realise the potential of relevant educational technologies within their teaching practice. Strategic Vision- As Chair of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Committee, lead the development and implementation of the School’s Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy, ensuring its alignment with the School’s overall strategy. Adopt strategic approaches to enhancing learning and teaching that are evidence-based, promote student engagement and draw upon current research and scholarship. Lead key strategic projects associated with learning and teaching, such as preparation for and submission to the Teaching Excellence Framework. Regularly report to Academic Board and other relevant committees on the School’s progress against the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy. Play a key role in the School’s application for Degree Awarding Powers and the subsequent development of IML’s own degree awards. Research and Scholarship – Actively contribute to the development of national and international subject communities and the wider sector through scholarly activities such as participation in conferences, exhibitions, the development of research, professional projects and publications. Demonstrate a commitment to own professional development, keeping abreast of relevant developments in the Higher Education sector and ensuring that professional currency is maintained at all times. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion – Chair the School’s EDI Working Group, working with students, staff, faculty and other stakeholders to develop inclusive teaching and assessment practices and to ensure that all students are supported to access equitable learning experiences. Lead initiatives to diversify the curriculum and support the School to continuously evaluate its policies and practices through an EDI lens. People Leadership and Management – Manage own resources, professional and skills development; plan and organise projects, initiatives and development opportunities in collaboration with colleagues and external organisations; actively participate in selection processes and advise on the development of academic and professional learning support roles. Educated at a postgraduate degree level; Recognised teaching qualification or SFHEA; Experience in academic staff development in a UK HE setting; Knowledge of UK HE learning, teaching, assessment and employability practices; Experience in academic mentoring and leadership; Experience in planning, monitoring and outcomes management; Excellent knowledge of English, written and spoken; Knowledge of Italian is advantageous. #
