Main Duties

- International artist and writer Jin ZhiYu Ye is looking for a Graphic Designer for her upcoming solo show at gallery@oxo, Coin Street. The exhibition is about her autobiography books of China, from the 1960 to 1990s. The show will include a great diversity of paintings, sculptures, digital prints and a film. The show will be on 11 to 17th of July. You will be working as part of a team with a film producer, journalists, and other international artists.
- You will also work with the marketing team from Oxo for the design templates and other supporting material. You need to be smart with concepts and words, with great vibrations and trust, being able to capture the cultural identity and soul of the work. Someone with a big heart and that would feel amazing by assisting a feminist artist. You need to be patient and have a really good temper and energy.
- You need to be flexible in your working hours. Need to have a very positive energy and great design skills and experience. You need to be a very skilful communicator and have a good mindset and awareness. All the success and credit will be shared with the right team of people.
- Please note that this job requires from you to do a preparation in order to understand the depths of Chinese culture and identity. Please do your own research and references before the interview.
- English must be your first language.
- You will need to deliver the following for the exhibition: A poster. This will be both printed as well as shown on the LED billboards in Waterloo area
- Design of an invitation
- Design and layout for vinyl text as part of the exhibition
- Newspaper design as part of an artwork
- Simple printed catalogue for the exhibition
- Re-design the website
- Help to set-up the exhibition the 11th of July
Please notice that this a very personal and vulnerable project. Please do not treat me as your therapist for your own problems. My intention for this exhibition is to share my vulnerable story and to heal the world, but not to get involved in personal issues.
Skills and Experience Required
- Native-level English speaker (not accepting any applicant without professional level of English)
- Great Communicator (not afraid of asking questions such as for the Oxo Tower building, concepts and story behind the poster)
- No student level – professional experience only with a wide range. of professional jobs with clients
- Someone who is not shy or scared
- Professional
- Loves literature
- Courageous and with big personality
- Experience with posters and exhibition posters
- Knowledgable in digital design softwares
- Understand how to play with the subtleties of words
- Someone who has a deep emotional understanding of the exhibition
- Willingness to commit, collaborate and focus on the deadline. Be able to create the communication bridge with people from different cultures and languages
- Very organised in terms of the work, documents and files
- Great skills, technique and motivation to do a preparation before the job interview/application
- Someone with a big heart to support feminism, understanding the power of the project and the vulnerability of sharing such a demanding story
- Someone with a a great gift for understanding on an emotional level support this job. Very sensitive with the depths on the emotions to truly understand the job (not someone like a robot and focused on the commercial aspect)
