Job description

The Community Education Project

Green Meadows aims to equip the Meadows community with the knowledge and skills that it needs to take on the climate crisis challenge. This includes the creation and delivery of workshops and education programmes in schools, youth groups and the wider community. These sessions may involve guest speakers and contributors to create an exciting and varied programme covering a broad spectrum of topics. Sessions should also be developed with youth groups and clubs to provide creative educational activities involving art, drama, public speaking and nature, and will direct the young people and their parents into opportunities to engage in the wider Green Meadows programme.

The National Curriculum does not include an obligation to teach children about climate change or the impact of human activity on the planet. Whilst workshops provided by external organisations to schools in the area have been received with enthusiasm, there is currently no comprehensive programme for delivery of Climate Change education. The Green Meadows project aims to change this.

Responsibilities

The Green Learning Coordinator will focus on the collaborative design and implementation of the community education project. This is a unique and exciting people facing role, working with a broad cross section of young people and their parents who live in the Meadows. You will facilitate the design and development of an innovative programme of creative workshops and activities, to inspire young people to take positive action on climate change. You will be offered the opportunity to receive ongoing mentoring and or support to build your skills and confidence in the development and delivery of the project.
