Group Financial Reporting Manager

Reporting into the Head of External Reporting & Treasury, you are accountable for external Financial Reporting and certain subsidiary Financial Reporting requirements across the Group.

You will actively communicate and work across the business with other teams including Tax, Management Accounts, FP&A, Legal & Company Secretariat, and overseas finance teams. You will lead a team of two Financial Reporting Accountants (qualified / part-qualified).

Responsibilities:

Financial reporting:

• Responsible for managing and delivering the statutory financial accounting and reporting for the Group, including overseeing the delivery of the half-year and full-year consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
• Working as part of a team of other contributors to help produce the year end Annual Report.
• Supporting in the ad hoc provision of financial analysis and commentary for the Annual Report, preliminary results announcements and investor presentations where required.
• Supporting with information and drafting of technical accounting papers for the Board and Audit Committee.
• Act as an internal consultant on technical accounting issues, assisting the Group FD and Head of External Reporting & Treasury and helping to form advice on the impact of any new accounting developments.
• Support the Group FD and Head of External Reporting & Treasury on ad hoc accounting and reporting projects.
• Being the primary internal contact for the external audit, including project managing the delivery of information to the auditors and managing the audit timetable.
• Responsible for the smooth delivery of UK subsidiaries’ statutory accounts under FRS 101.
• Working with overseas advisors to support the delivery of overseas entity financial statements in South Africa, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands, as well as any other new entity reporting requirements that arise.
• Working with tax and legal advisors on various matters relating to corporate restructuring projects.
• Advise and support overseas finance teams on various accounting matters, including lease accounting under IFRS 16.
• Responsible for maintenance of the Group’s share option scheme schedules and working with advisors to administer share option exercises in line with agreed service levels.
• Responsible for the delivery of all external ad hoc reporting such as ONS reporting, UK SIP tax returns, payment term reporting etc.

Tax:

• Support the Tax team with any ad hoc requirements for delivery of tax filings in all group jurisdictions.
• Provide cover in preparation of UK VAT returns during periods of annual leave.
• Work with the Tax team to implement the Group’s transfer pricing policy and oversee accounting for transfer pricing and cost recharges.
• Assist with the production of tax related disclosures at interim and full year reporting.
• Ensure all tax accounts are appropriately reconciled and reviewed on a regular basis.

Other

• To look for opportunities to simplify or automate processes with a goal of being an efficient and lean finance team, without compromising on quality.
• Support the Head of External Reporting & Treasury to lead a Financial Reporting team providing ongoing coaching, training and career development. This includes effective and efficient task delegation and keeping a team both highly motivated and organised.

Skills, Competencies and Experiences:

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years post qualification experience in a relevant role (practice or industry).
• Professional certification in accounting attained in professional practice.
• Strong analytical and technical accounting skills and working knowledge of IFRS reporting.
• Track-record of coaching and developing team members (direct reports) to maximise their motivation and effectiveness.
• Experience of working in a PLC reporting environment, with multi legal entity reporting responsibility is desirable.
• Used to delivering results consistently in a fast moving and deadline-focused environment.
• Good knowledge of working with general ledger systems (Microsoft NAV / Business Central) and accounts production software (Caseware) (desirable)
• Advanced Excel and formal writing skills.
• Highly intelligent and articulate individual with ability to communicate clearly to Executive leadership team as well as at all levels to other stakeholders.
• Willing to adapt to changing priorities and flexible enough to respond to the demands of a fast-moving business.
• Driven individual who is constantly trying to improve processes and procedures.
• Enthusiast, self-motivated team player but able to work with autonomy.
