Group Leader – Commercial Services

Barnsley Council are seeking a Group Leader – Commercial Services to join the team based in Barnsley. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £48,474 - £51,515 per annum.

We’re excited to be recruiting to our Environment and Transport Business Unit as part of the Commercial and Operational Service Support Team with this exciting opportunity to lead our Commercial Services Team.

We are looking for a Commercially experienced transformational leader with evidence of managing a multi-functional department and a proven track record of delivering commercially successful projects/services.

This role manages the following teams: Car Parking Services, Commercial Services (including bulky waste collections, bin deliveries and Material Recycling Plant), Pest Control. The role will also be responsible for instigating and progressing commercially viable projects within their portfolio.

The ideal candidate will also have a sound knowledge of the changes associated with the Environment Act 2021 and a good understanding of how these changes will impact BMBC’s Commercial Waste services.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to be creative and innovative, to maintain and develop new markets whilst delivering continuous professional development, and continuously improve all work streams.

The successful candidate will be educated to Level 6 in Business and Marketing or other role related subject, and have equivalent extensive experience, and will be willing to undertake the Councils internal leadership programme.
