WHAT TO EXPECT
As the Sensors Chapter Lead you will be responsible for the coaching, mentoring and career growth of a group of Sensor Lead Engineers and their allocation to Agile product squads. You will ensure the successful specification, sourcing, validation and delivery of sensors for Internal Combustion Engine applications.
Encompassed in the role you will ensure delivery processes, product requirements, design requirements, standards and forward model quality analysis toolsets are applied across EP, facilitating knowledge sharing and consistent delivery on time, on cost and with Quality.
You'll have the opportunity to be involved in the development of future Powertrain systems and will be influential in the development of Powertrain design across programmes.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Directly support programme delivery through deployment of Chapter members within an Agile framework.
Work with Product Owners in assessing resources and technical requirements needed within Product Squads.
Work with Sensor Chapter members to facilitate inputs into the Sensors Body of Knowledge to ensure consistent use of best-in-class standard tools and methods.
Actively raise quality and consistency of the hardware delivery process, including identification of best practise, process improvement, maintenance and documentation.
Quality assure work delivered by Chapter members within Squads and ensure effective and consistent application on programmes.
Build a community within the Chapter and Sensor community to allow effective knowledge and process sharing, building strong connections with Chapter Leads and Technical experts across Engineering.
Ensure all Technical issues and Impediments internal to the Chapter are communicated and escalated.
Enable high performance and provide pastoral care to all Chapter members.
Provide mentoring, skills development and technical guidance to Chapter members.
Gather lessons learnt and feedback from Product Owners and Chapter Members.
Create Capability and Capacity roadmaps for current and future needs in support of JLR programme requirements (resource, skills & IT).
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Ability to develop and mentor a group of Engineers with a clear vision to drive towards a unified set of objectives.
Experience in the delivery of commodity hardware in an Automotive Engineering environment, including evidence of process improvement activities and execution of Quality Operating Systems.
Evidence of consistent and repeatable deployment of problem-solving techniques and virtual methods.
Strong knowledge of Sensor Technology and Mechatronics.
Knowledge of Powertrain Units & Systems design principles and attributes.
Knowledge of programme delivery systems and lifecycles (e.g. PCDS framework).
