Job description

Role: Groups Co-ordinator (Young Women and Girls)

Based: Hammersmith

Salary: GBP27,000 - GBP32,000

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Fixed Term until Dec 2025

Hours: Part Time 21 hours (some scope for hybrid working)

Our client, a leading charity who provide specialist support to Women and Girls who have are at risk of exploitation, domestic abuse and in contact with the Criminal Justice System, are looking for a Group Co-ordinator to join their team.

Synopsis of duties:

  • Creating and managing a Young Women and Girls programme, liaising with keyworkers and partner agencies, delivering a range of prevention and awareness-raising activities, including: domestic abuse, healthy relationships, sex and consent, online safety etc)
  • Producing appropriate resources for the group activities, ensuring that these meet the needs of a diverse group of Young Women and Girls
  • Supporting volunteer mentors to deliver groups and workshops and engaging with other agencies to organise workshop delivery by external facilitators
  • Conducting risk assessments and assessing safety concerns, liaising with the YWG s allocated key worker and raising any concerns with the Service Manager
  • Ensuring a smooth referral process for the YWG and their allocated keyworker
  • Proactively advertising, promoting and raiding awareness of group work and workshops to YWG, Keyworkers and relevant external agencies, including planning and organising events to ensure that the programme is visible
  • Supporting YWG to attend these groups, assisting with timings, travel arrangements, childcare and providing support including regular check-in calls
  • Managing accurate records and managing a small budget to cover to cost of group materials and supplies, refreshments, travel costs, etc

Essential Requirements:

  • Must have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable Women and Girls, including domestic abuse, exploitation, mental health and contact with the criminal justice system
  • Experience working in a trauma-informed approach, supporting vulnerable Young Women
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures and legislation
  • At least 1 years experience supporting Women and Girls at risk of violence/abuse, mental health issues and/or in contact with Criminal Justice System
  • Experience facilitating and planning group work activities
  • Experience reaching out to young people and engaging hard to reach service users
  • Experience working closely with external agencies
