Temporary Handyperson - Housing Repairs

Pay Rate: £16.90 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37.50 Monday – Friday, 08:00 - 16:00

Carry out all handy man services as instructed by supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate a range of work activities to ensure performance targets are attained.
- Carry out works within strict timescales and budgets, seeking approval from Supervisors as required to vary works
- Use PDA equipment competently to record works carried out in real time. To ensure the safety of oneself and others at all times by working within the Council’s Health and Safety policy and procedures associated with Handyman works.
- Use and maintain a company vehicle as required to fulfil daily work activities in line with the Councils driver policy.
- Carry out a range of handyman services including but not limited to, Minor repairs to doors and frames, kitchen units, fitting and replacing locks, unblocking sinks, basins and baths, fitting shelves and assembling flat pack furniture, hanging curtains.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, in accordance with our code of conduct with respect to our residents and their homes whenever working in or outside of the property.
- Inform your supervisor where necessary materials are required for works to be carried out in a single visit
- Carry out works to the requirements and obligations to the Health and Safety at work Act and all specific Health and Safety polices required by the Council. Wear appropriate clothing, ID, uniform and PPE for specific tasks
- Offer an excellent level of customer service - be respectful, positive, polite, on time and listen to the needs of residents.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness at all times by the use of dust sheets and/or boot covers and leave properties and a clean, compliant and safe condition.

Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent written and verbal communication skills
- A valid licence to drive in the UK
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of relevant COSHH and HSE legislation
- Working knowledge of statutory legislation in regards to health & safety and to understand the need for rigorous risk assessment and method statement procedure
Exeperience:
- Experience working in residents’ homes and communicating with residents
- Experience and ability to work in a customer facing role Have used PDA Previous experience essential
