We are inviting applications for the role of Lead Practitioner of English at a dynamic secondary school in the Luton area. This is a permanent position starting in September 2024, ideal for an individual looking to advance their career and lead the development of the English department.
Day to Day of the role:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and resources.
- Participate in school events and extracurricular activities to enrich the student experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for English literature and language.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will have:
- Thorough knowledge of National Curriculum requirements for English.
- Ability to teach up to and including GCSE level.
- Knowledge of systems for monitoring student progress.
- A learner-centred philosophy, recognising individual value, potential, aspirations, and needs.
- An ability to encourage, inspire, and motivate learners while demonstrating high standards and expectations.
- A passion for the subject and for teaching and learning.
- Collaborative and supportive team working skills.
- Strong communication, organisation, and accuracy.
