Head of Art & Technology

We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Art & Design teacher to take on their next role as Head of Art & Technology. This pivotal role aims to deliver high-quality teaching, fostering the development of students' skills through practical, investigational, and theoretical work at Key Stage 4 and 5.
Key Responsibilities:
Faculty Leadership:
- Manage subject leaders and heads of department within the Faculty, ensuring its development across all year groups.
- Cultivate a positive ethos and shared understanding of the significance of Art & Design within the academy, aligning with short, medium, and long-term development plans.
- Identify and promote best practices within the Faculty.
- Lead Faculty team meetings, prepare agendas, and manage minutes effectively.
Faculty Development & Improvement:
- Prepare Faculty SEF and Improvement Plans as part of the monitoring and evaluation cycle.
- Oversee all aspects of the Faculty's standards and provisions, including homework, teaching quality, student work, behaviour, Schemes of Work, and exam entries.
- Utilise data to monitor standards of learning and teaching, identifying under-performance and high-potential students.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures for assessing, recording, and reporting student progress.
Teaching & Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver purposeful and productive lessons.
- Innovate and devise varied teaching methods to inspire pupils.
- Develop pupils' familiarity, competence, and confidence in the subject.
- Ensure the provision of a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum.
- Mark work according to departmental and academy policies, providing appropriate feedback.
- Contribute imaginatively to co-curricular, extra-curricular, and sporting programs.
Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Liaise with Heads of Year, Form Tutors, and parents regarding student performance and matters of discipline.
- Manage pupil behaviour, establish an orderly working environment, and ensure safety.
- Enforce the pupils' Code of Conduct and Dress Code.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience in teaching and leadership roles
- Strong understanding of assessment and reporting procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
