About the Team
The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) is recruiting for a Head of Central Services presenting a pivotal role, leading a multi-disciplinary team in support of the Agency’s vision. You will play a key role in maximising the efficiency of our corporate services and have the freedom to be innovative, working across teams and with colleagues to excel in service delivery. About the Job
In this role, you will:
- Set strategic direction for GIAA Central Services
- Be accountable for identifying, assessing and managing risks in these areas and developing, implementing and monitoring proportionate risk mitigation strategies.
- Be a trusted advisor and a member of the Corporate Centre Senior Leadership team of the Chief Operating Officer
- Work collaboratively and confidently with senior members of staff deliver Central Services across the agency considering financial and people challenges and be politically astute
- Think strategically about the Central Services that GIAA needs to support the delivery of the Corporate Plan and the opportunities and constraints that will shape that journey
- Lead, manage, and motivate a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team of subject matter experts
You will play a pivotal role within the Corporate Services Directorate, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and part of the wider Corporate Services Senior Management Team.
The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplinary team in support of the Agency’s vision to deliver Better Insights, Better Outcomes across a range of corporate services that are enabling functions for our delivery to customers.
About You
We are looking for someone able to demonstrable a track record of success in delivering a wide range of Corporate Services, including essential experience in estates, information security, health and safety, business continuity and management of administrative support services.
You will require in depth knowledge and experience of delivering fit for purpose Corporate Services which provides maximum performance and VFM. With experience of leading successful multi-disciplinary teams and subject matter experts, you’ll have the ability to understand and advise senior leaders on complex, sensitive policy issues, understanding the wider policy and political context.

Hybrid Working is available to GIAA colleagues. This means a combination of office working and working from home. This includes time spent in our GIAA office locations and can also include any time spent attending our customers' sites.
GIAA colleagues are expected to work in an office location for two days a week on average (40%). Naturally, this expectation will be applied on a pro-rata basis for people who have a part-time or compressed hours working pattern.
