Responsibilities:
- Recruit, develop, and mentor excellent software, systems, and reliability Engineering and IT talent and promote best practices in software engineering, systems administration, and operations.
- Design and implement security policies in service of Anthropic's mission to deploy AI securely.
- Develop and drive the strategic vision for Anthropic's IT environment and Corporate Engineering needs.
- Lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for managing infrastructure, access, security, communications, collaboration tools, business applications, data integrations, and workflows.
- Partner with departmental leaders across the company to understand their systems and integration needs and ensure optimal solutions.
- Oversee complex integrations across our stack - from infrastructure to applications - to create seamless systems.
- Continuously monitor health of infrastructure and applications, optimize performance, and develop capacity plans.
- Maintain 99.9% uptime and high-availability of critical systems.
- Ensure all IT solutions meet security and compliance requirements.
- Manage relationships with key vendors and negotiate contracts. Control costs through prudent decision making.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have 15+ years managing software or security engineering teams and enterprise IT environments
- Have experience earlier in your career as a software engineer or security engineer
- Have experience in an executive role
- Have expertise overseeing complex infrastructure and application stacks, integrations and data pipelines
- Have experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP or Azure
- Possess leadership skills to collaborate, influence and drive consensus across the organization
Strong candidates may also:
- Have excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
- Are a creative problem-solver able to balance business needs with system constraints
- Can budget management skills and sound judgment optimizing value
- Are obsessed with system stability, scalability, efficiency and security
- Have experience scaling from a small to large scale company
Annual Salary (USD)
- The expected salary range for this position is $560k

Compensation and Benefits*
Equity - On top of this position's salary (listed above), equity will be a major component of the total compensation. We aim to offer higher-than-average equity compensation for a company of our size, and communicate equity amounts at the time of offer issuance.

Employees based outside of the UK or US will receive a different benefits package. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including where you place on our internal performance ladders, which is based on factors including past work experience, relevant education, and performance on our interviews or in a work trial.
