Your deep Credit Risk expertise required for this pivotal role in shaping retail Bank's approach to Credit Risk and Analytics, using forward-looking and data-driven strategies to achieve business objectives within a scalable and sustainable risk management framework:
- Design Credit Risk infrastructure requirements, scorecards, and risk analysis to support ICAAP and other processes, spanning both retail and commercial risk.
- Oversight of both automated and judgment-based credit underwriting.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of risk-reward dynamics.
- Provide strategic insights across the Bank's lending portfolios. This will involve implementing Credit Risk reporting processes and early identification of deteriorating thematic risk positions.

Role Overview:
- Lead second line Credit Risk Function to optimise and embed the Credit Risk Management Framework.
- Ensure adherence to Bank's Credit Risk Management framework and relevant Risk and compliance policies and procedures.
- Develop a suite of appropriate Credit Risk metrics along with MI and reporting to maintain the Bank's risk appetite.
- Monitor and mitigate performance risk of counterparties and transactions, including design and implementation of Credit Risk infrastructure and scorecards.
- Provide subject matter expert advice, supporting the maintenance of Credit Risk management practices in line with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with first line operational areas involved in Credit Risk management to deliver efficient and effective processes.
- Lead, manage, and develop a team to oversee the delivery of Credit Risk expertise in the Bank.
- Identify emerging Credit Risks through regular and insightful analysis of Credit Risk performance data, allied to external horizon scanning.
- Contribute to the ICAAP process through review, challenge, and direct inputs.
- Work closely with other business areas to support the bank’s strategic growth initiatives.
Essential Experience and Skills:
- Extensive experience managing end-to-end credit activities in a retail/commercial bank.
- Track record of driving process changes to ensure best-in-class operations.
- Experience setting risk strategies for increasing loan portfolio year-on-year.
- Ability to assess creditworthiness of counterparties, including analysing financial statements and other external research materials.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment, building and leveraging strong relationships and bringing gravitas to negotiations.
- Analytical and data-driven mindset to identify, analyse, and resolve business challenges.
- Strong leadership experience, ideally with a background in forming and leading teams based in different locations.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with senior leaders, board members, and global stakeholders.
- Experience operating or establishing a successful risk-based pricing model.
- This role is in scope under FCA/PRA SMCR as a Certified position.
