Head of Cyber Detection and Response

Salary: National – £100,000 – £115,000, London – £130,000

Our Group CISO team is currently seeking a Head of Cyber Detection and Response to join their innovative and forward-thinking team! The role can be based in London, Bristol, York or Norwich, however travel to other Aviva offices will be required.

At Aviva, we rely on our group cyber security operation team to keep our customers and employees safe, therefore we need you to provide leadership and continuous improvements for us across our Cyber Detection and Response capability. We are counting on you to lead and manage the Detection and Response team to detect and respond to cyber threats and incidents across Aviva. You will be responsible for managing a security operations team providing 24/7 security monitoring of the Aviva technology estate.

A bit about the job:

As the Head of Cyber Detection and Response, you will also develop on and lead the group centre of excellence for Cyber Detection and Response along with planning, prioritising and conducting cost analysis for future technical services and tooling to deliver the group security strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities in the role:

  • Lead cyber incident Detection and Response. Lead security recovery events, with IT colleagues (and often vendors) until services are recovered and secure

  • Maintain and grow the engagement model with IT delivery and architecture teams to integrate cyber security operations into BAU and change activities, ensuring that security continues to be built into Aviva systems, infrastructure and culture

  • Analyse and interpret complex technical information to identify patterns and trends, root cause, relationships and causal links

  • Manage operational security services delivered to Aviva by 3rd party suppliers

  • Mentor and coach more junior colleagues and provide support to peers within CISO and IT

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of defensive and detective tooling both on premise and in the cloud

  • Experience with leading multiple complex activities simultaneously to short timescales

  • Experience leading a team in a 24/7 environment

  • Strong knowledge of operational security management across multiple platform environments

  • Experience with building relationship and engaging with all levels of management and communicating complex technical issues to a range of audiences
