We have just started a major programme to digitise our customer to recipient pipeline – this will leverage major investment in IoT, computer vision, advanced analytics and AI – to leapfrog competition and further advance our 500+ year old institution.
As the Head of Data Insights, you be in an exciting new role and will lead a Data Insight centre-of-excellence to identify both strategic opportunities and execute targeted rapid value realisation initiatives.
With 5 Direct Reports and a Matrix influence of up to 100 data and tech resources you will be an integral part in leading the data function with a companywide influence.
You will be the link between strategy and execution, equally comfortable discussing group wide transformational opportunities at board level and influencing specialist teams to convert data-led insight to action.
Responsibilities
- Working directly with our CTO, you will be a hands-on leader of Data science, analytics, and visualisation experts, with a relentless focus on data-driven change.
- You will provide a data-led arguments to influence and inform our organisations strategic direction.
- Propose and/or validate hypothesis of value, transition to projects in order to enhance profitability.
- Positively challenge and influence Executive Board and their Directors to optimise our strategy and transformation.
- Curate a backlog of opportunities suited to data science and analytics techniques, working in partnership with Transformation Design Leads to confirm strategic alignment.
- Develop a team of experts proficient in modern established tooling to yield accelerated value (e.g. Python, PyTorch, BigQuery, Spark, Stream based real time processing, native reporting in line with our cloud-first strategy).
- Identify applied innovation products and opportunities
- Monitor our ongoing operational and commercial effectiveness and profitability via application of Data, and recommend changes to create improved or new value
Skills And Experience
- You should be an experienced line manager within a data science and analytical insight’s function.
- Confident in communicating data-informed opportunities to business stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Champion of good practices for producing reproducible analyses and reliable data science systems.
- Knowledge of and practical experience applying advanced statistical modelling and experimentation to produce data-driven, evidence-based insights.
- Ability to manage a large and varied workload and easily multi-task and delegate where appropriate.
- Influencing investment and leading design on large scale digital transformation.
- Familiarity with data science and analytics on cloud computing platforms (e.g GCP, Azure).
- Experience developing end-to-end advanced statistical, machine learning and optimisation systems including data cleansing, exploratory data analysis, model development, evaluation, visualisation and monitoring.
