Job description

The Head of Distribution, UK & EMEA will be responsible for leading a team of sales professionals to service the relevant institutional and wholesale markets. This role will have ultimate accountability for managing, maintaining strong relationships with relevant industry consultants and investment gatekeepers, as well as ensuring global coordination of those gatekeepers. Additionally, this role will have accountability for the business in Asia.

Key Tasks and Outputs:

  • Lead a team of institutional & wholesale sales, client service, product management and marketing professionals to identify, develop and acquire new business and growth opportunities by leveraging an existing and expanding network of key clients within the UK & EMEA.
  • Develop and execute a sustainable sales and marketing strategy across wholesale and institutional channels, with an additional responsibility for Global Financial Institutions that will also involve extended geographical responsibility and coverage of Asia based wholesale clients.
  • Develop and execute a best in class client service offering
  • Maintain an exceptional stakeholder management focus across all investment teams and global enabling functions.
  • Champion a client centric focus and provide subject matter expertise on product and business development needs and concepts based on changing client requirements.
  • As a senior leader, grow and develop diverse revenue streams by channel, geography and product level.
  • Lead and inspire the UK & EMEA team towards a shared purpose to enable broader strategic initiatives and priorities.
  • Role model and demonstrate behaviors to drive a culture of cross-team collaboration.
  • Work closely and cooperate in a partnership spirit with other members of the business to serve the client base.
  • Maintain a strong risk management & compliance culture within the team.
  • Work within regulatory and statutory requirements always and ensure fiduciary responsibilities are met.

Organisational:

  • Controlling all Sales and Marketing related aspects
  • Ensuring responsibilities are properly discharged through appropriate delegation of responsibility and authority, adequately defining and apportioning responsibilities to direct reports across Sales and Marketing operations.
  • Responsibility for the effective operation and performance of the Sales and Marketing function, ensuring teams are adequately resourced, structured and aligned to plans.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining sustainable relationships with key personnel and external parties.
  • Responsible for representing the firm to clients, consultants and other third parties on Sales and Marketing matters.
  • Shared responsibility for promoting integrity and client interests.
  • Acts within delegated authority as the ultimate decision maker on Sales and Marketing issues, ensuring decisions fall within risk appetite.
  • Responsible for evaluation and reporting of Sales and Marketing decisions in support of plans.
  • Responsible for providing timely advice, insight and reporting on Sales and marketing matters as required for governance.
  • Shared responsibility for recognising and raising conflicts of interest.
  • Shared responsibility to contribute to culture development, setting standards, and ensuring a high performance culture.
  • To act as a member or chair of governance forums and abide by respective Terms of Reference as required.

Strategic Development and Implementation:

  • Responsibility for development and presentation of Sales and Marketing strategy and business model to support corporate strategy.
  • Shared responsibility for effective strategy and business model execution.
  • Responsible for monitoring and assessing performance against objectives, plans and budgets, and taking corrective action to manage risks.
  • Delegated responsibility for matching products with specific target client groups.
  • Shared responsibility for identifying and assessing new market and client opportunities.
  • Acting as a key closer to secure new clients.
  • Shared responsibility for implementation of new investment products.
  • Shared responsibility for planning and developing new product strategies ensuring fund management and sales resources are incorporated.

Operational:

  • Developing a global Key Account strategy through the sales team by building intermediary and institutional advisor networks.
  • Acting as a point of contact on issues impacting Sales and Marketing including HR, infrastructure and general administration.
  • Responsible for external marketing strategy, PR company management and website development.
  • Responsible for maintaining a network of advisers and external experts.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective Sales and Marketing resourcing to meet objectives.
  • Sets measurable goals, evaluates and manages performance of direct reports annually.

Risk, Compliance and Audit:

  • Contributes from a Sales and Marketing perspective to Risk Framework, Risk Management, Compliance strategies, Risk Appetite, methodology, limits and policy planning and development.
  • Responsible for implementing agreed Risk and Compliance strategies across sales and marketing.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring an adequate system of internal controls to enhance decision-making and minimise conflicts of interest.
  • Responsibility for ensuring Sales and Marketing operations comply with relevant regulations and laws.
  • Responsible for establishment, implementation, communication and maintenance of policies and procedures for effective Sales and Marketing performance.
  • Responsible for implementing agreed policies across the Sales and Marketing function.

Key Competencies:

Education/Experience

  • Relevant tertiary and industry qualifications.
  • Significant UK and European Asset Management sales leadership experience.
  • Experience in Intermediary/GFI within Asia.
  • Successful track record of managing sales, marketing and client service teams to develop relationships and raise assets from institutional and wholesale clients.
  • Proven ability to sell client segmentation, product matching, pre-calls, sales tactics preparation and implementation.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication.
  • Demonstration of self-confidence, entrepreneurial attitude and cross-functional understanding to deliver superior client outcomes.Understanding of best in class Client Service function and ability to execute
