Role Overview:
As the Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our technical strategy. You'll be responsible for leading and mentoring our engineering team, overseeing all aspects of software development, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in managing data engineering and science teams within startup environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented engineers to achieve their full potential.
- Develop and execute the technical roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
- Manage and prioritise engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, data science, and other teams to drive product innovation.
- Drive best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and reliable systems.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (10+ years) in a leadership role within a startup environment.
- Strong background in managing data engineering and science teams.
- Proficiency with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), AWS services, Airflow, DBT, Python, and JavaScript.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
