Job description

We are hiring on behalf of a manufacturing company in Rotherham for the position of: -

Head of Engineering (Electrical)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage department time and attendance.
  • Manage your team to ensure time is used appropriately.
  • Manage your team's training using the competency matrix and schedule training to improve his level of skill as needed.
  • Spend time with your team at work to share knowledge and lead them.
  • Ensure that all work is done to a good standard, that your team leaves the work area in good condition, and that return forms are completed as required.
  • Create and conduct toolbox talks as needed to ensure engineers are aware of and compliant with company policies and changes within the department.
  • Use the CMMS system to plan your team's work and enable them to generate the reports they need.
  • Manage incidents to ensure satisfactory resolutions are found in a timely manner and external department managers are kept informed.
  • After reviewing the previous day's report, attend a department meeting and prepare actions to resolve open issues so they can be brought to the morning manufacturing meeting.
  • Be aware of your financial budget and fill out the necessary budget spreadsheets. Consider your personnel budget and complete the necessary timesheets.
  • Provide technical support to day shift engineers. We provide after-hours telephone support.
  • Actively seek improvements, justify and implement them where possible.
  • Generate/revise PPM to improve equipment maintenance.
  • Assist with projects and prepare CEA/RFA as required. Intervene with technology leaders in similar industries as needed.
  • Acts on behalf of the Head of Engineering as needed.
  • Highlight critical items and ensure replacement parts are added to inventory.
  • Manage contractors and ensure that the contractor's RAMS are correct and work is completed to a good standard before arriving on site. We issue permits as required and carry out risk assessments where necessary to ensure work is completed safely.
  • Collaborate with compliance contractors.
  • Ensures that actions are completed in a timely manner and to appropriate standards. Promote occupational safety and health and ensure department compliance with company and occupational safety and health policies at all times. Actively contribute to improving occupational safety and health within the department and in all other areas, including revising and creating new JSIs.

Requirements

  1. FMCG Maintenance Background - Essential
  2. Inverter Setup/Troubleshooting - Essential
  3. PLC fault finding - Essential
  4. Programming - Desirable
  5. Experience in heavy industry - Desirable
  6. Degree in Electrical Engineering - Apprenticeship Training
  7. HNC/HND in Engineering
  8. ILM Level 5 or equivalent management qualification - Desirable
  9. PC skills - Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  10. Qualifications in Mathematics, English and Science
