General Dental Council is currently undergoing an exciting period of internal transformation and as part of that journey we are recruiting in our central Birmingham office for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Senior Partner, to lead the development and delivery of strategic, integrated and proactive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) initiatives. Our ambition is to create a sense of belonging for all and focus on improving ED&I across employee experience, registrants’ experience and the dental profession addressing key challenges and opportunities to enhance ED&I.
The GDC is the regulator for the UK dental sector, ensuring that all Dentists and Dental Care Professionals meet the required levels of education and professional development to ensure the best possible protection for the general public.
The role
Reporting into the Head of Organisational Development, you will:
- Ensure that the ED&I agenda is recognised as positive, proactive and influential in contributing to the organisation's strategic and operational planning process including working closely with colleagues to support delivery to addressing inequalities are key parts of all strategies, plans and programmes.
- Ensure that ED&I is integrated into the fabric of GDC culture, values, business model and service delivery to create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday actions ensure we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality.
- Assist with diversity analytics, including benchmarking, tracking metrics, analysing, and generating diversity reporting for various audiences to highlight trends and demonstrate impact of ED&I programmes and initiatives.
- Ensure there is a robust and achievable ED&I operational plan in place which drives a focus on employee and service user experience and supports the adoption of ED&I best practice externally across the dentistry profession in the UK.
- Develop and deliver an ED&I communications plan in partnership with the GDC communications team.
*This role is known internally within the GDC as Senior ED&I Lead/Partner.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of working with and influencing senior leadership teams to develop and deliver ED&I strategies.
- Analytical skills and ability to interpret and present data effectively from qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources including MS Excel.
- Excellent facilitation/training skills to support OD and Culture work on ED&I.
- Experience of leading internal engagement to enable organisational change.
- Understanding and ability to utilise creative solutions including the use of technology and new ways of working.
- Political acumen and sensitivity on a range of Equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights issues, and promoting best practice.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate with credibility and conviction.
- Hands on, pragmatic, willing to switch between strategy and delivery to get things done.
