Head Of Estimating

We are looking for an experienced Head of Estimating to join our Façades & Cladding division at Guildmore! The role will be reporting into the Director of Guildmore Facades & Cladding. The Head of Estimating will oversee the estimating process for facade projects, ensuring accurate, timely, and strategic bid proposals. This role requires a thorough understanding of facade systems, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, clients, and stakeholders. This position is primarily office-based but may require travel to job sites, client meetings, and industry events.

Primary and General Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the facades estimating team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
• Develop and implement best practices, standards, and procedures for the estimating department.
• Oversee the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for facade projects.
• Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and value engineering options.
• Provide support in resolving any estimating-related issues that arise during the construction phase
• Plan and lead all matters relating to our Contracting Tenders in conjunction with other departments.
• Develop a full set of documents based both on Sub-contract tender returns and/or own measures with rates applied.
• Analysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation in order to estimate costs.
• Researching, sourcing, negotiating, and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Attend mid and post tender meetings with clients and sub-contractors.
• Develop risk analysis of the information provided/not provided by the Client.
• Review and ascertain costs associated with logistics, time frame etc.
• Visiting project sites to gather information and prelims costs.
• Complete Form of Tender and tender letter with any qualification and complete contract sum Analysis/Schedule if necessary.
• Prepare information packages for handover to construction team if successful, attend handover meeting and brief the team on tender bid.
• Identify scope of value engineering / value creation and identify tender risk.

Requirements and Skill Set

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the facade industry.
• In-depth knowledge of facade systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Experience in Façade remediation is highly desirable.
• Experience in Main contracting is highly desirable.
• Must have experience with on-screen Take off, such as Bluebeam.
• Must be confident dealing with clients & subcontractors.
• Successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role and technical knowledge of the façade sector.
• Candidate must be technically minded with reading and interpreting detail drawings.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Highly numerate, with the ability to build Bill of Quantities (BOQ’s) quickly and accurately.
• Must have a confident, resourceful and 'can-do’ approach to work.
• Self-motivated and willingness to learn new skills.
