THE ROLE
As Head of Finance you will be accountable for overseeing all financial operations across 3 divisions encompassing various entities within the organisation. As a senior member of the Finance team, with direct managerial oversight of one team member.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a strategic business partner to key stakeholders in the organisation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance processes within the established business framework.
- Produce comprehensive monthly Management Accounts, comprising Profit and Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements, while ensuring adherence to UK GAAP accounting standards.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and deliver monthly Risk & Opportunity forecasts, cost management projections to facilitate informed decision-making by department heads.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of statutory bodies,
- Analyze financial performance, identifying areas for enhancement and providing recommendations accordingly.
- Effectively manage working capital, encompassing customer billing, collections, and debtor management.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, leasing agreements, and HP registers.
- Reconcile Event, Hospitality, and Matchday revenues with third-party reports and supporting documentation.
- Supervise sales invoice generation and reconcile event catering and retail income.
- Administer loan balances and associated interest payments.
- Handle HMRC returns and inquiries.
- Provide support to the Group Finance Director on strategic financial management matters as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified member of an accountancy body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or finalist status.
- Preferably degree-educated.
- Desirable experience within the Sports, Hospitality, Catering, Events & Leisure sectors.
- Knowledge of charity accounting and regulations is advantageous.
- Proven experience in producing accounts, KPIs, and reports at the Board level.
- Demonstrated success in leading a finance function.
Skills & Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Netsuite is beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Previous exposure to PPS, Ticket Master, and Zonal systems is desirable.
- Exceptional communication skills across all levels.
