Job Description
The Head of Financial Reporting will lead a large team and be the expert on technical accounting matters. The HOFR will own the delivery of the statutory financial statements and support and oversee all other reporting / forecasting / budgeting requirements. To ensure a robust financial control environment and challenge existing ways of working.
You will lead and directing the Financial Reporting team, technical accounting matters, cash management and forecasting, contributing to the production of periodic management / board reporting as well as annual budgetand medium-term financial plan, statutory reporting, regulatory reporting, effective internal controls, system and process improvements
Role overview;
* Lead and direct the Financial Reporting team (Financial Accounts, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Passenger Accounts), ensuring members feel valued and motivated and are well trained, supported and developed.
* Be the subject matter expert on all technical accounting matters, analysing new activities and significant transactions considering relevant accounting standards and applying these correctly; this includes - but is not limited to - overseeing the accounting for lease contracts in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 16) and liaising with external advisors on topics such as hedges, pensions and taxes.
* Drive the cash management process by providing payment approvals, overseeing the preparation of regular short-term and longer-term cashflow forecasts within the immediate and wider team, and proposing monthly grant drawdown requests to ensure sufficient working capital.
* Contribute to the production of the periodic Management / Board report by providing accurate and timely balance sheet and cashflow information as well as IFRS 16 restatements and periodic IFRS 16 outturn forecasts for different scenarios, accompanied by insightful narrative based on variance analysis compared to Budget.
* Support the preparation of annual and future years budgets by providing robust and timely balance sheet and cashflow projections as well as IFRS 16 restatements for different scenarios, accompanied by insightful narrative based on year-on-year and plan-on-plan variance analysis.
* Own the production and interpretation of the annual financial statements, support the parent company in the delivery of the consolidated financial statements and manage the statutory audit process as the main point of contact for external auditors.
* Oversee the accurate completion and timely submission of different regulatory returns and reporting requirements.
* As the main point of contact for internal audit, ensure a robust financial control environment with strong internal controls documented in relevant policies and procedures and continuously monitored for effectiveness.
* Challenge existing ways of working and promote the continuous improvement of the wider financial accounting and reporting systems and processes to make them more efficient and robust.
* Provide support and assistance to the Head of Finance - Operations with regards to any ad-hoc information requests, reports or analysis as required.

The Successful Applicant
A successful Head of Financial Reporting should have:
- A degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- Professional financial certification (e.g. CIPFA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA).
- Experience in a senior financial role within a medium to large business or organisation.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong Financial Reporting and strategic planning abilities.
- Excellent Technical Accounting skills including IFRS
- Thorough understanding of Financial regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
