The role

We are looking to recruit a Head of Financial Strategy reporting directly to the Assistant Director - Financial Strategy. This role will also work closely with the Assistant Director - Financial Management and Senior Service Group Finance Manager advising on the long term financial plan and strategy for the organisation, providing a high level of Financial support and leadership.

The post holder will be responsible for managing the successful development of the new organisations long term financial plan and strategy, aligned to the overall collaborative system plan. This will include the development of high level Group and Trust financial plans to ensure that financial viability is maintained and that expenditure across the Group and Trust can be contained within the income levels it receives.

This is an important role in the SMT and involves participating in meetings with clinical and operational colleagues both in the Trust and within the ICS and wider system, to ensure the financial impact of any decision taken which may affect the Trust's financial position and plans are correctly analysed and understood.

About you

* Experience of NHS Finances. Knowledge of Financial Strategy in developing, modelling and managing the Trust's financial plans is desirable.

* Experience in developing financial plans and communicating complex financial information which in turn supports the efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of finance systems and processes within the Finance Department.

* Experience of working with operational teams and of helping shape strategic and business planning processes, key to the recovery of the Trusts underlying deficit and medium term financial planning.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrable experience in working with operational teams and other corporate functions to deliver a mature rounded service.
