Job Title:Head of Global Support Programmes

Location: Samlesbury, we offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £89,000 plus executive benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the global sustainment network set up to support the growing F-35 fleet. BAE Systems has a proven track record of delivering sustainment on world-leading combat aircrafts and we play a leading role in delivering this support to the global F-35 fleet.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing leadership, management and coaching for successful planning and delivery of US Programmes Sustainment portfolio, leadership of set piece customer engagements at LM/JPO Director level
  • Interfacing with Lockheed Martin as primary point of senior escalation on behalf of US Programmes Sustainment VP
  • Ownership of the relationship with BAE Systems Inc partner as it relates to delivery of US Programmes Sustainment business in the US. Responsible for maintaining high levels of trust and collaboration
  • Representing as required the VP in senior internal engagements including the Support Council and Joint Business Council
  • Monitoring and reporting project/programme performance for schedule, technical, financial, and quality objectives
  • Establishing and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships maintaining regular communications and managing expectations
  • Taking responsibility for achieving customer satisfaction at the pan US Programmes Sustainment level
  • Proactively manage emerging risks/opportunities to the benefit of the project/programme
  • Overseeing the development, establishment and continuous improvement and tailoring of procedures and guidelines for operation of the project/programme, ensuring adherence to the Operational Framework
  • Evaluating the performance of subordinates using appropriate objectives and ensuring continuous coaching to enhance their capability

 

Your skills and experiences:

  • Minimum 10 years in Project Management including 5 years at a senior level, with a deep knowledge of project life cycle management processes
  • Experience in the delivery of major complex projects in the Sustainment and Support arena
  • Strategic consulting skills coupled with significant experience developing and implementing transformational business strategies
  • Leadership excellence, combined with highly tuned interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills and a deep understanding of how military aerospace businesses work.
  • Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness
  • Credibility and confidence working at senior levels in the organisation; comfortable working with C-suite executives across the range of business functions
  • Degree qualified and with appropriate professional qualifications / experience in Programme/Transformation Management or will come from a strategic management consulting background
  • Detailed knowledge of the defence industry and contracting standards

You will be working on the world's largest defence programme F35, breaking new grounds on the 5th generation advanced fighter jets. The roles we play across development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment are underpinned by world-class UK manufacturing and industrial know-how developed through decades of cutting-edge combat air experience.

As the Head of Global Sustainment, you will be responsible for leading programme integration across the USP (US Programme) Sustainment business and be primary point of escalation on behalf of the VP for portfolio level customer escalations.
