Job description

Main role and responsibilities

ShelterBox has a network of 13 affiliate international fundraising teams who are independent charities in their own countries. They are a diverse group of different sizes, income models, audiences and cultures, all sharing our mission to see no one without shelter after disaster. They work to raise awareness and funding for ShelterBox and are enabled by support from the UK-based teams, including Fundraising, Brand & Content and Communications & PR. Collectively our affiliate international fundraising network engages with a global community of supporters, raising a significant proportion of ShelterBox’s income.

The Head of International Giving works with and supports affiliate international fundraising leaders to deliver annual strategic planning, driving income through both our staff-led and volunteer affiliate teams. Along with your International Giving Team, this role focuses on facilitating their fundraising, providing all the information and support they need to create a range of activity from launching emergency appeals, community events and digital engagement to securing major gifts and developing corporate partnerships.

The International Giving Team is the main point of contact with Heads of our international fundraising affiliates and other key personnel across the network. You promote a collaborative network between teams in keeping with ShelterBox’s culture and values – fostering a feeling of one team across the network.

This role also has responsibility for growth beyond the current network of country affiliate offices. The role will identify potential in different fundraising markets, building business cases for investment, and developing new income streams - including developing our International Volunteer Ambassadors.

Reporting to the UK Fundraising & Communications Director, the Head of International Giving works as a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the UK directorate and the wider organization. By working alongside the SLT across the whole organisation, this role will bring efficiency and togetherness across the international fundraising network and will ensure that the voice of our international teams is heard across the organisation. The role will also have a ‘dotted line’ of accountability to the CEO on some aspects of the role around senior global leadership and governance.
