Job Description :
This role plays a key part in Diageo's ability to operate securely around the world, and safeguard its future by preparing the business to react and thrive in the face of volatility or unseen challenges. The core mission is to protect Diageo’s people, property, operations, and future development, through setting policies and standards and managing/monitoring their implementation.
Role responsibilities:
  • Leader of the global investigations capability in Diageo.
  • Accountable for setting strategic direction, policy, and standards for the conduct of Investigations into allegations of misconduct, including ensuring alignment with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Works closely with other Diageo functions including Business Integrity, Legal, Global Audit and Risk, Global Business Operations, Digital & Technology, HR and Employment Relation Specialists, and Brand Protection.
  • Provides tools, capability training and performance monitoring on investigation processes and procedures to various in-market personnel conducting and managing investigations, including accountability for their functional capability development, to ensure they have the ability and capacity to deliver investigation support to the required standards.
Top Accountabilities:
Ownership of global investigations strategy and capability; evolve and develop investigations polices, frameworks and capabilities in line with external and internal requirements, monitoring and measuring performance.
Lead the global investigations community – providing clear direction, training, and support, to ensure effective investigative capabilities are in place worldwide.
Lead on the conduct of complex/sensitive, ‘above-market’ investigations that require significant investigation expertise.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • The candidate will be a senior-level investigations professional, with extensive relevant experience.
  • The experience may include from an operational law enforcement, government, or military investigation background, but this is not essential.
  • Experience in conducting and leading investigations, and teams, in a corporate environment is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively leading, managing a team and influencing senior stakeholders in multiple jurisdictions, working across cultures and in complex markets, and experience of dealing with government officials and agencies.
  • Proven track record of personally conducting complex and sensitive investigations.
  • High levels of expertise and experience in use of e-discovery tools in investigations, as well as other relevant technology.
  • Ability to travel required.
Key Capabilities/Qualities:
Ability to provide effective written and oral reports on complex investigations to senior executives and or other senior partners, ensuring that legal privilege is protected where necessary.
Excellent analytical skills, strong commercial and pragmatic approach.
Excellent interpersonal, influencing and coaching skills, including working with senior internal partners.
High levels of integrity and professionalism – the role requires strong ethical values.
Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organisation and to manage projects through and with geographically dispersed colleagues, and ability to lead through strong influence and interpersonal skills with a high level of cultural awareness, empathy and sensitivity.
