The opportunity:

Markel Law LLP (Markel Law) is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients. Our clients and business partners comprise businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries. We operate from offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Croydon and employ over 60 specialist solicitors. Our legal teams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services.

Due to the successful growth of Markel Law we are looking for an experienced leader who will work closely with the firm's partners and management team to oversee the strategic, operational and day to day development of the Markel Law business.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and implement the firm's strategic vision and long-term goals
• Provide leadership and guidance to the Partners and management team in alignment with the firm's values and objectives

Operational Excellence:

• Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure the highest levels of client-centric service delivery
• Implement good practices to enhance operational processes and work flows
• Continually push for efficiency & improved effectiveness

Financial Management:

• Work closely with the finance team, manage the firm's financial performance and budget
• Find opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation

Client and Partner Relations:

• Foster strong relationships with clients, partners, and key team members
• Build unparalleled linkup between Markel Law and Markel the insurer
• Enhance the firm's reputation and brand within the insurance and legal community

Team Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop an impactful team of Partners and senior leaders
• Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment
• Develop a culture of excellence and customer-centric service

Our must haves:

• A background working in legal, accounting, insurance or professional services as a Managing Director, Head of Operations, COO or Financial Director
• A demonstrable ability to develop relationships with key internal and external partners
• A demonstrable ability to lead and manage senior individuals
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Significant experience in driving a business towards its long term goals
• An ability to manage technical specialists without necessarily having that technical specialism
• Experience in leading independently and taking responsibility for decisions made to improve the team and business offering
