We are looking for a Head of PMO professional to work alongside our Transformation Leadership community to understand and improve the performance of our strategic programmes and projects across the business. It is truly an outstanding role that would give you the prospect to take oversee the delivery performance across the Group Transformation portfolio. As you will provide an overview of Change activity to senior stakeholders within the business, translating the change management data and bringing to life the performance, delivery, and health of our transformation portfolios; that consist in the region of 200+ projects and programmes.
A bit about the job:
As the Head of PMO, you will monitor the delivery performance across the Group Transformation portfolio – ensuring early identification of issues and providing solutions or escalation as appropriate. Additionally, you will ensure accurate reporting and insight of all portfolio(s), maintaining an awareness/understanding of the market and functional priorities and dependencies, the single Aviva transformation roadmap and key requirements for each initiative.
You will seek to improve our change management capabilities through an understanding of the change management weaknesses and the embedding of industry best practice. Working alongside our transformation leaders across the Group, you will develop our existing change management capability to ensure we have processes/ KPIs/MI in place to mitigate/handle any issues that arise within all our key portfolios, programmes and projects.
The scale and strategic importance of the programmes and projects within the remit of this role means we seek an individual who has multi-year experience of both Portfolio Management and Programme delivery. This is a role which will challenge your understanding and application of change practices across a large book of work but in return you will be at the heart of our Aviva transformation journey and able to drive both our delivery performance insight and wider change capability maturity.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Excellent experience/background in the Portfolio Management of c200 programmes and projects, ranging from small change up to large scale strategic transformation activity
  • Detailed understanding of P3O – desirable. Able to apply theory into applicable and workable practice
  • Experience with leading large-scale investments in the Financial Services industry - execution of large-scale projects (£25-50m lifecycle budget) with a track record of successful delivery in a complex business environment
  • Ability to understand the business case for all larger strategic programmes within the portfolio so to be able to aid the delivery performance of all individual and connected initiatives, and to be able to challenge the delivery status leading to an improvement in delivery confidence. This is more than a PMO management role. You will need to be able to understand the content and dependencies within the portfolio
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills – the ability to sell the value of the process and controls required within the portfolio to our Transformation Leads

  • Salary between £100,000 - £140,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
