Head of Repairs

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Head of Repairs on a temporary basis for three months. The position is due to start immediately. The daily rate is £350-£450 per day on an Umbrella basis.

The ideal candidate must have experience of leading a maintenance and repairs service within the public sector and hold a full UK Driving License.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Leading, planning and monitoring the delivery of all Responsive Repairs services for the council’s local authority on a day-to-day operational basis

• Overseeing a team of two Technical Services Managers and Project Officers

• Contract managing the delivery of Repairs from start to completion with an external contractor

• Reviewing and monitoring contractor performance, ensuring a high level of service delivery within housing repairs

• Controlling all budgets relating to responsive repairs and maintenance

• Dealing with escalated complaints from tenants as required, providing effective resolution

• Reporting on KPIs for work steams, preparing and presenting reports on operational performance

• Managing strategies to reduce insurance and disrepair claims, coordinating and responding to legal correspondence as required to defend claims

Experience required:

• Experience working with customers within housing

• Experience working with domestic social housing properties

• Experience of leading a maintenance and repairs service within the public sector

• Risk assessment and management

• Compliance and due diligence

• Ability to create a climate where employees are involved, empowered and committed

• Appropriate technical qualification in construction

• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills

• Excellent attention to detail

• Ability to work on own initiative

• Detailed knowledge of legislation relating to housing assets

• Detailed knowledge of legislation relating to statutory compliance (Gas/Electric/Asbestos/Legionella/H&S/CDM)

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week

• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
