The City of London Corporation manages 2,900 homes across the City of London and six surrounding Boroughs, including 1,930 homes for social rent, plus commercial premises, estate parking and storage facilities.
We have an excellent opportunity for an outstanding candidate with a successful track record in housing repairs management to provide leadership to our Property Services Team. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Housing Management, you will be the Housing Division’s lead professional for Repairs and Maintenance, responsible for responsive repairs, compliance, contract servicing and cyclical maintenance programmes.
Strong leadership skills are essential to success in this role. You will be a highly effective people manager, motivating, developing and supporting your team to ensure that key performance indicators and metrics are met in the delivery of a quality Repairs and compliance service.
With excellent communication skills, you will be an effective and highly organised leader who has the ability to apply people management policies and procedures. You will have also be knowledge of legislative and financial framework relating to asset management, and be able to develop policies, procedures and write comprehensive reports.
Improving tenant satisfaction is a key priority for the Housing Division and enhancing our repairs offer is a fundamental part of this. You will bring your expertise and tenant focus to implement improvements which drive up and maintain standards, creating a responsive repairs service which meets tenants’ needs.
You will also use your strong contract management skills to obtain value for money and promote high performance from our contractors.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience of successfully leading and developing staff to deliver high-quality services
- Substantial experience of housing responsive repairs, compliance, cyclical maintenance and contract management
- Knowledge of legislation and regulation on housing repairs, health and safety and compliance
- Proven ability to respond to disrepair claims and complex complaints
- Strong contract management capabilities and an ability to hold contractors to account on their performance, to ensure high standards of service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident presentation style
- Excellent IT skills and experience of using housing management and financial systems
- A positive “can do” attitude and a commitment to a high standard of service delivery
Please note that frequent travel is required to other City of London sites for oversight of service delivery, meetings and staff supervision. The post-holder will be required to work outside normal hours on occasion (evening meetings etc).
