Salary: £68,400 - £91,635 L16 L28 (salary based on experience and agreed additional responsibilities)

About the role

Vision for Education are proud to be working in partnership with a multi academy trust in the South East to recruit a Head of School for a new SEMH academy.

The main purpose of the role is to provide inspirational and visionary leadership and to be responsible for the effective day to day operational management of the academy. The Head of School will work closely with the trust leadership team to nurture a supportive school culture that demonstrates outstanding teaching.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of outstanding teaching, leadership & management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of SEMH needs. They will be solution-focussed, resilient and an exceptional communicator.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• To lead the academy and its staff to ensure extremely high standards of teaching & learning, behaviour, & sustained progression
• To lead, motivate, support, & develop staff in contributing to a school culture that is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people with SEMH
• To present a coherent & accurate account of the academy s performance to a range of audiences that include trustee s, CEO, Ofsted, & more
• To develop the school s and trust s presence within the local community
• To lead in the safeguarding and well-being of young people
• To allocate financial resources appropriately & effectively

About the school

The school is opening in September 2024 in partnership with Kent County Council. The school will cater for up to 120 secondary aged students with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, some with associated autism spectrum conditions and/or communication difficulties. The school will grow from approx. 50 students in it s first year to full capacity by the fifth year.

The school will be committed to ensuring that each child can access the highest possible standard of education, where they can be supported to manage their behaviour, emotional and mental health needs.

Requirements include:

• Teaching qualification with QTS / QTLS (essential)
• Completed NPQH (or similar) or working towards it (desirable)
• Senior leadership experience within an educational setting
• Ability to lead, coach, & motivate staff, and ability to address underperformance (if required)
• Experience of analysing and using school performance data
• Understanding of SEND in a specialist setting, particularly SEMH needs
