Job description

Canterbury Christ Church University is a vibrant and inclusive community comprised of over 25,000 students and 2,000 staff. At the core of our identity is a commitment to people, both in our approach and our endeavours. We are dedicated to attracting talented individuals, providing them with support for success, and acknowledging their achievements and contributions to the University.

As the largest higher education centre in Kent for public services, particularly in teacher training, nursing, policing, health, and social care, we also offer a diverse array of academic and professional programmes, totalling over a thousand at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We are delighted to announce the search for our new Head of the School of Nursing, someone who possesses a keen understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary to guide digitally enabled, compassionate, and adept practitioners in caring for patients within an evolving health and social care landscape. We are looking for a dynamic individual who will match our ambitions, bringing with them a proven track record as an experienced nurse educator and leader, equipped with a vision for achieving world-leading nursing capabilities.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in leading high-performing teams at both school and cross-university levels within nursing education, demonstrating a strong commitment to ensuring excellence in student experience and maintaining quality performance. Exceptional communication skills are essential, as the role requires effective representation and ambassadorship for the University, both internally and externally, with bodies such as the NMC.

This significant leadership role offers the opportunity to join the University at a pivotal moment in our history, as we embark on Vision 2030 – our new strategic framework developed collaboratively with colleagues, students, the local community, and partners. This framework places sustainable futures and student success at its core.

We are committed to building a diverse workforce, recognising that diversity is essential for fostering a truly inclusive work and learning environment. We welcome applications from individuals across all sections of the community.

We have partnered with the Executive Search Firm, Anderson Quigley, who is acting as an advisor to Canterbury Christ Church University. A search process is being carried out by Anderson Quigley in addition to the public advertisement. For full details on ‘how to apply’, or context, criteria and particulars of the appointment, please click on the apply button.

The closing date for applications is 12pm on Monday 12 February 2024.
