About the Head of Service role:

Sellick Partnership are looking to recruit an experienced team leader who will hold overall responsibility for the Commercial service area (a team of 10 lawyers) but will support other Heads of Service and the Executive Director in their absence.

The Head of Service will set their vision for the team, provide direction and support to their service area and oversee the management of the team. Budget management, performance management and strategy setting also form an important part of the role.

The Head of Service will be an active member of the organisations Leadership Team, be available to the team and clients, and be supportive of the Executive Director and Board decisions.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Service role:

It is important for the Head of Service to manage the budget within their team, ensuring that work is being allocated efficiently, that staff are fully utilised and that targets are being met.

This candidate will have experience of managing a team of Commercial fee earners and of holding a leadership role:

• Dedicated to the organisations trading model and to local government legal provision
• An experienced people and budget manager, able to deliver targets and manage performance
• An expert in local government commercial law
• Someone who can think strategically, lead a team, and build relationships with colleagues and clients quickly
• Knowledgeable about Lexcel and able to work within a regulatory framework

The role will be a hybrid working arrangement with hybrid attendance at offices in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
