As Head of Tax, you will be responsible for the group’s global tax affairs, setting the group’s tax strategy and managing a range of stakeholders internally and externally.

 The role is therefore broad in nature and requires a Head of Tax who can forecast, manage and report on the group’s tax rates, maintain and develop an appropriate governance framework, and support the business through transactions to acquire, integrate and divest target businesses.

As VAT is an important above-the-line cost, you will have a good understanding of partial exemption VAT accounting.

What you'll be doing...

• Forecasting, managing and reporting the group’s tax rate.
• Setting the group’s tax strategy and policies, bringing forward tax planning opportunities that fit with the business’ objectives and risk appetite.
• Managing and supporting the group’s tax compliance manager in the preparation and/or outsourcing of the group’s compliance, which includes CT returns and tax payments, and in its first submission of CbCR and Pillar 2 reports.
• Responsibility for the tax disclosures and narrative for group accounts under IFRS and managing the statutory accounts tax audit.
• Maintaining the group’s active relationship with HMRC, following a low risk rating, and managing tax authority audits as they arise. 
• Actively managing and structuring tax for M&A projects, as well as DD processes.  This would include preparing and presenting tax models, advising on negotiation positions and reviewing contracts, in conjunction with professional advisers.
• Maintaining and evolving a tax risk and control framework appropriate to the size of the business and reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee bi-annually.

Good communication skills will enable you to explain complex tax issues to a range of internal stakeholders who are unfamiliar with tax.

You will be an organised individual, able to deal with a broad range of issues over the course of the day.
