DNA Recruit are working with a leading Live Production company renowned for creating bespoke, unforgettable experiences through cutting-edge technical solutions. They specialise in immersive product launches, captivating visitor attractions, and innovative theme park installations and live experiences. Based in their state-of-the-art offices in Cheshire, they are on the lookout for a visionary Head of Technical to join their dynamic team and contribute to their continued success and expansion.
As the Head of Technical, you will be at the forefront of developing bespoke technical solutions that set our client apart in the Live Production industry. Your leadership will drive research and development initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. You'll tackle complex challenges, ensuring each event and installation is executed flawlessly and leaves a lasting impact.
The Role
- Technical Visionary: Lead the creation and implementation of custom technical solutions for a diverse range of productions, from product launches to theme park installations.
- R&D Leadership: Spearhead research and development, exploring cutting-edge technologies like projection mapping, VR, XR, and AR to enhance existing intellectual property.
- Innovative Problem Solver: Develop creative solutions to technical challenges, elevating the quality and impact of Live Productions.
- Team Empowerment: Inspire and mentor a team of skilled technicians and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with production managers and creative teams to develop comprehensive technical plans that align with artistic visions and client objectives.
- Equipment Optimisation: Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Technical equipment and resources.
- Quality Assurance Champion: Ensure rigorous standards for technical quality and reliability through thorough testing and troubleshooting.
- Safety Advocate: Promote and adhere to safety protocols and best practices, ensuring the well-being of the team and participants.
- Client Collaboration: Provide expert technical guidance to clients, enhancing their vision and exceeding expectations for live events and installations.
Is it you?
- Degree or advanced training in technical theatre, audiovisual production, engineering, electronics, computing, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in a senior technical role within the Live Production industry.
- Proven track record of delivering bespoke solutions and leading R&D initiatives for major brands.
- Expertise in projection mapping, interactivity, and VR, XR, and AR integration.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a talent for inspiring teams.
- Proficiency in CAD software for technical design and planning.
- In-depth knowledge of video systems, including projection mapping and LED walls.
- Familiarity with key software and hardware such as Disguise, Ventuz, Unreal, Notch, GrandMA3, Protools, Blender, TouchDesigner, and Pixera.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to safety and industry regulations.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving production schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Self-motivated, passionate, and driven to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in Chester for a minimum of 2 days a week ideally, with on-site work across the UK and abroad for larger events.
