Head of Technical & Sustainability 23/01/24 Cork Neg Permanent full-time

As a member of the Senior Management Team on site, the Head of Technical & Sustainability is responsible for the development and execution of the technical strategy and the strategic direction of the technical team. You will oversee the technical department to ensure that the highest quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of the senior leadership team on site.
  • Ensure that products leaving the factory are of the highest quality.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the HACCP system, the QMS and accreditations such as BRC etc.
  • Develop and execute the technical strategy and set the strategic direction for the technical team.
  • Manage the technical department budget and resources.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a diverse technical team.
  • Oversee the handling of customer complaints and manage the resolution and close out of escalated customer complaints.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement in all areas of the Technical Department and site.
  • Promote a positive work environment, manage change efficiently, and inspire employees to achieve their objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the senior management team to ensure the successful implementation of projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for initiatives that can enhance business processes, customer experiences, and operational efficiencies.
  • Stay up to date with technical developments and trends.
  • Drive the Sustainability Strategy currently in place.
  • Lead and manage the coordination of sustainability programmes across key functions - commercial, packaging, supply chain, Ops, etc.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports and any updates internally, to external audit bodies such as Origin Green etc.
  • Keep abreast and review emerging sustainability developments and reporting requirements.
  • Analyse and report on sustainability developments at commercial, consumer and policy level, including analysis of sustainability programs and progress in peer companies to inform our strategy.
  • Act as the company sustainability champion.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a technical role.
  • At least 5 years managerial experience with a proven track record of successful technical leadership and strategy development in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong experience managing departmental budget and resources successfully.
  • Conscientiousness about deadlines with a commitment to accuracy, integrity and quality.
  • Organisational ability and adaptability to take responsibility for a wide range of tasks.
  • Must have your own form of transport.
