Hughley exciting opportunity for someone with extensive Procure to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (O2C) experience to oversee our large UK Operational Finance team at National Grid and play a key role as part of the new Global P2P leadership team.

 

As the UK Head ofProcure to Pay and O2C Delivery, you’ll lead all UK P2P and OTC delivery across National Grid and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED). This includes leadership of a large team of internal colleagues and third-party service providers.  This role provides the opportunity to support the set-up and transition to a new global P2P team along with integration of National Grid and NGED teams in the UK.

 

You’ll oversee the UK control processes, payment of supplier and sundry invoices as well as wayleave agreements. You’ll ensure that financial processes are efficient and compliant, monitoring and reviewing all financial processes and driving change to deliver improvements, ensuring robust controls, processes and service levels are in place for key operational finance activities.

 

We’d hope to see you in our Warwick office 2 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You’ll Do:

  • As a member of the Global P2P leadership team, contribute to effective implementation of global service tower. 
  • Leadership of colleagues operating across National Grid and NGED.
  • Risk and Controls: Management and development of strong controls mindset and effective operational controls across EBS service lines 
  • Accountability for the control, processes and payment supplier and sundry invoices and wayleave agreements in NGED.
  • Directing the delivery of Transactional Procurement services within the Purchase to Pay end to end business process to National Grid’s internal customers and external suppliers. 
  • Overseeing the delivery of Accounts Payable services within the Purchase to Pay end to end business process to National Grid’s internal customers and external suppliers. Ensuring that suppliers are paid on time in accordance with contractual T&Cs and completion of legislative Duty to Report to Department of Business, Enterprise, and Industrial Strategy 
  • Provide a comprehensive financial credit risk, security, cash collection and debt management service on behalf of the business.
  • Oversee the controls and their effective design and operation within the areas of accountability.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency through the implementation of best practice, drawing on external sources and internal references in Order to drive increased value for the business. 
  • Build, develop, and manage a high performing and technically capable operational finance team, including the delivery from our 3rd party partners.
  • Support in the design and delivery of all major change programmes impacting Operational Finance  To lead and develop National Grid financial performance budgets and metrics, while ensuring business compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other key financial controls.

About You:

  • Qualified Accountant ( CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or AAT) with extensive operational finance experience ideally within a Shared Services environment. 
  • Strong change management capability and project integration skills 
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and facilitation skills.  
  • Significant leadership experience of large operational teams 
  • Knowledge of all aspects of P2P and O2C including process and service delivery, technology enablement and user experience/interaction. 
  • Procurement knowledge and experience particularly of indirect categories. 
  • Experience of continual improvement through the ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to the forefront and deliver measurable improvements in efficiency and/or costs/change management. 
  • Leadership of controls (including SOX) environment, required to enable streamlined process delivery. 
  • Experience of developing, scoping, and implementing end to end purchasing and financial transactions. 
  • Experience of working as part of an integrated team to deliver system enabled changes / transformation. 
  • Broad business experience across projects, operations, and technology
