Job description
We are looking for an exceptional team leader who can support and motivate our Workforce Development and Training team to grow the global Clinical Radiology and Clinical Oncology workforce for the benefit of patients.
Patients need more Clinical Radiologists to support early diagnosis and Clinical Oncologists to promptly treat those diagnosed with cancer. In the Head of Workforce Development and Training role you will be the key enabler of growing these two exceptionally important pools of doctors, working with a vibrant, friendly and talented team to both develop and navigate the various pathways to make this happen. The team is split in two, one responsible for developing new workforce growth initiatives and the other holds a blended caseload of activities, some of which are pervasive and others which follow annual planning cycles.
The successful candidate will work with the team to grow the number of consultants on the specialist register, whether that be trainees, global doctors coming to the UK, and those who wish to gain entry to the specialist register via the portfolio pathway. Each of these routes has its own regulatory framework and the Head of Workforce Development will strategically navigate these to guide the function to develop and implement the strategy to achieve our overall objective with quality at the heart of everything we do.

What you'll do:
Create and evolve the RCR's vision and strategy for Workforce Development across the UK. Maximise the use of data as a business intelligence asset to further the team's work. Oversee all operations relating to the UK training of trainees looking to enter our specialties. Increase the pipeline of prospective trainees in each specialty. Oversee all existing global workforce initiatives, leading on the strategy underpinning innovative global routes into UJK roles, including the development of new initiatives. Lead, develop and motivate the team and individuals within it to deliver expected outcomes and strive for continuous improvement. What you'll need:
Experience of leading a high performing team. Proven track record of delivering a programme of activities. Ability to think proactively and strategically, evaluating the external environment and distilling a direction of travel down to tangible projects and programmes of activity. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority. Ability to effectively manage competing prioritise for self and for team.
