You will be competent on monitoring anaesthesia on all surgical procedures, run in-house lab samples, able to perform Schedule 3 procedures, admit & discharge our in-patients; do nurse consultations confidently and prioritise patient welfare and care. You will control the stock management within the practice, ensure we stay on top of the practice health & safety and RCVS compliance. You will also have the opportunity do nurse clinics or puppy parties if you wish.
You must have a good work ethic, be punctual, reliable, good organisational skills, be computer literate, good people skills, excellent phone manners and good communication skills are also essential as you will be mixing both internally with our team and externally with our clients and other professionals.
About us:
Here at Brislington Vets4Pets we are a RCVS accredited and actively support the Cats Protection Neutering scheme. We are working towards becoming a ISFM Bronze cat-friendly clinic as well as the BVBA & Dog Trust dog friendly clinic. We are a friendly, dynamic, highly motived, and ambitious team of 18. We are made up of 5 vets, 3 of which have a range of experience over 25+ years and 2 new graduates, 2 RVNs, 1 newly qualified nurse, 3 VCAs, 6 receptionists (including a client care advisor and head receptionist) and a practice manager. Our team is led by our JVPs Gabriel Chida and Paul Guckian, who between them have a total of over 55 years’ experience. Gab, who is a resident at our Brislington practice, has an interest in Orthopaedics and other complex procedures, Nisha specialises in ophthalmology and Tina in acupuncture. Our Head Receptionist has a keen interest in behaviour and will be looking to hold behavioural consults with clients in the future. We encourage progression within your role with the opportunity to get advanced certificates. As a team we like to get together at least twice a year to let our hair down and bond. Some of our team members have been here since the start, others have trained here and stayed, all have become one big family. Occasionally staff have the option to bring their dogs in to work with them and we welcome each and every one. If your shift runs over due to an emergency, we pay overtime and don’t expect you to work extra for free.
The practice was recently expanded in 2021 which has given us 4 consult rooms, a large theatre area, a dental suite including dental xray. Our practice has all the equipment you’d expect including a laser therapy system, digital radiography, ultrasound, blood machines, BP monitors, ECG machine, and capnogram; and we are always looking to expand the services that we offer in practice. There is separate kennelling facilities for cats and dogs and an isolation room for any patient that may need it.
Our cases are 100% small animal, with 40-50% of our clients insured. We are based inside the Pets at Home store, so get to treat exotics on a regular basis. We have built a good relationship with our clients and they always comment on how friendly we are as a practice.
We can offer a fantastic location to work, our surgery is located along Bath Road, with a bus stop in front of the store. There is plenty of onsite parking with is completely free of charge to all employees. We have an office/colleague break room, where you can take your lunch break away from the hustle and bustle of the prep area. There are eateries nearby if you wish to take your lunch break outside of the practice.
If you would like to be part of our amazing, caring and friendly nursing team then give us an informal call or apply now
Location: BS4 5NL
Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
