Barnsley Council are seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join the team based in Barnsley. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,221- £43,421 per annum.

Your role in our journey
We have an opportunity to join our team for a Chartered Safety and Health Professional. As a Health and Safety Advisor you’ll provide specialist support to a wide range of council services and external organisations. We’re seeking someone to support making sure we comply with all legislation, guidance and appropriate practice in relation to Health and Safety across our diverse services (including schools). You will support a range of people with advice and guidance, and assist to develop our certificated management systems and arrangements, deliver IOSH accredited training and be an integral business partner to our services. As part of a wider team responsible for emergency planning, in the event of incidents and emergencies, you will directly be involved in the Council’s response be it an incident affecting communities or the Council (for this occasional work outside normal office hours will be required and the post is part of a standby duty rota for which additional payment is made).
What you’ll need
You’ll need to have completed relevant level 6 (or above) specialist training and qualifications and be a Chartered Member of IOSH. You’ll bring to the role a strong track record of achievement relevant to the post applied for including providing advice and guidance to managers and external agencies; developing and implementing policies, procedures and plans; developing, producing and presenting effective information and training; developing risk assessments and multi-service working. Applications would be particularly welcomed from those with a premises management/construction background or experience.
