Yolk Recruitment is exclusively managing an exciting new opportunity for a Health and Safety Officer to join an established, expanding manufacturer based in South Wales.
You will bet he sole Health and Safety personnel on site, reporting to the Group EHS Manager. Support and professional development will be offered and this is a great opportunity for a Health and Safety professional to join a great team!
This is what you'll be doing as Health and Safety Officer
- Ensuring all risks, for Health & Safety and Environmental are understood and have suitable and sufficient
- controls in place to minimise those risks.
- Ensuring documentation, instruction and training is available to all employees and that it is regularly reviewed
- for accuracy and suitability
- Developing Continual Improvement and Standardisation of best practice across the Division.
- Ensure completion of Risk Assessments, PUWER assessments COSHH assessments etc are carried out and either reviewed periodically or amended due to changes
- Ensure Health and Environment Monitoring is carried out in accordance with company policy
- Ensure Safe Operating Procedures are completed and available to employees at point of use
- Advise the site on Health & Safety matters arising from its day to day operations
- Carry out compliance auditing against legal requirements and put in place corrective actions/strategies to correct any digressions
- Investigate all works accidents, in conjunction with local line management and ensure effective actions are
- identified and implemented to prevent recurrence
- Liaise with other Company Health & Safety personnel to ensure common safety practices
- In conjunction with the Quality & Improvements Manager, liaise with customer and Third Party Accreditation
- bodies to maintain approvals
- Advise the Management Team on any Health and Safety training needs.
- Maintain the H&S Modules within Safety Management System (IMSXpress).
- Liaise with Local Authorities and H&S Executive on safety and environmental matters
- Liaise with other Company Quality and Safety Department personnel to ensure suppliers and subcontractors are effectively controlled and monitored.
- Maintain safety inductions and controls for new employees and contractors
- Reporting of key data to Local and Group Management teams on key areas
- Assist the Operations Manager to develop a Health & Safety Improvement plan for the site
The experience you will bring to the team as Health and Safety Officer
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety OR NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety
- Competent/Qualified to carry out Risk Assessments, PUWER Assessments & COSHH assessments
- Internal auditor
- Knowledge and Operation of Health & Safety Management Systems and ISO 45001
- Working Knowledge of Legislation
- Experience working in a factory or machine shop environment
