Health & Safety Advisor

Our client, a well-established and reputable Civil Engineering Main Contractor with an annual turnover of over £100 million, is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Advisor. This is a permanent role based in Glasgow, joining a growing team due to recent project successes in Scotland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct safety inspections, report to stakeholders, and provide feedback to employees.
- Manage the preparation and review of work packs (RAMS, Permit applications, COSHH, etc.) with training provided.
- Identify and organise necessary safety training for the company, ensuring it is delivered, recorded, and validated.
- Report injuries and dangerous occurrences to the Health & Safety Manager and follow up with corrective actions.
- Enhance the Health & Safety culture by providing advice, assistance, and sharing best practices.
- Advise company directors and management on Health & Safety matters, including legislative changes.
- Collaborate with contracts management staff to integrate safety considerations into operational planning and risk assessments.
- Be a great communicator and build relationships with stakeholders
Requirements:
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Membership of IOSH
- UK Driving Licence
- CSCS Card at Health and Safety Technical, Supervisor, or Manager Level
- HNC/D or Degree in a construction-related field
- Minimum of 3 years in a Health & Safety Advisor or Manager role working on civil engineering projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Ability to produce and distribute current Health and Safety information.
- Experience creating work packs as described in key responsibilities.
- Knowledge of working with external authorities (e.g., SEPA, Local Authority).
