We are a leading manufacturer in the uPVC industry, committed to delivering high-quality products while prioritising the safety and well-being of our employees. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a diligent and proactive Health and Safety Assistant to join our team.
As a Health and Safety Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Group Health & Safety Manager in ensuring the company's compliance with Health and Safety legislation. We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated individual with a commercial mindset, capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide advice and assistance on Health and Safety matters, working independently in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
Develop strong working relationships with all levels of the workforce and external stakeholders to foster a positive Health and Safety culture.
Coordinate the company's risk assessment program, advising management on necessary control measures, and contribute to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Administer the company's accident reporting and investigating procedures, assisting in accident investigations and RIDDOR 2013 reporting.
Identify Health and Safety training needs, provide or source training, and conduct H&S induction training for new employees.
Plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventative safety measures, conduct regular site safety audits.
Support monthly H&S Committee meetings, addressing safety improvements.
Keep records of audit findings, produce reports suggesting improvements, and assist in producing management reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
Stay up to date with new legislation, maintain a working knowledge of all HSE legislation, and help implement changes and new systems as they arise.
Ensure the proper use of allocated and appropriate PPE.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Experience in an H&S role in a manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of accident investigation and root cause analysis.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Logical thought process for problem-solving and procedure development.
Must have achieved IOSH qualification.
Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in work.
Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
Strong presentation skills with the ability to train others.
Proactive approach, resilience, and adaptability.
Willingness to undertake further training and implement learning into daily work.
