Health And Safety Manager

A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Service Manager to join their Health and Safety as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a building safety environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to lead a team that are responsible for supporting Leeds Building Services in meeting the standards imposed by H & S Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice and Council Policies.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Assist the H & S, Asbestos & Business Support Snr Service Manager to develop and deliver strategic business improvement plans.
• Lead the development and delivery of Health and Safety solutions to assist services to meet their Health and Safety obligations.
• Lead in the development and maintenance of the organisations Health and Safety management system, including proactive and reactive monitoring.
• Ensure that an appropriate auditing and monitoring regime is in place to provide evidence that the Council is taking proportionate steps to manage risks.
• Provide performance information to the Senior Service Manager and Head of Building Services that is both timely and accurate and relevant to the service are being managed.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require a degree in relevant service area or equivalent relevant demonstrable experience. As well as a NEBOSH Diploma or Min Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

• Full, current, UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• Offering excellent Health and Safety advice & providing solutions to problems.
• Interpreting and applying Health and Safety legislation and best practice.
• An in-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including the responsibilities under the CDM regulations 2015.
• Conducting audits and inspections to assess Health and Safety compliance.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £25 - £27 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
