Job description

Our client is a national fitout contractor working on a strong pipeline of projects moving into the New Year. They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team based out of the North East. If you have a passion for maintaining and improving workplace safety standards, we want to hear from you.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Development and Implementation: Establish, manage, and review Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and national regulations.
  2. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure the identification of potential hazards.
  3. Training: Organise and deliver Health and Safety training sessions for employees and contractors to ensure understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
  4. Incident Management: Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and unsafe working conditions, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  5. Reporting: Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on Health and Safety activities.
  6. Liaison: Work closely with site managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that safety standards are consistently met.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest in Health and Safety regulations and best practices, implementing changes as necessary.
  8. Emergency Preparedness: Develop, maintain, and practice emergency response plans.
  9. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and safe operation of Health and Safety equipment.
  10. Stakeholder Communication: Represent the company at external Health and Safety forums, meetings, and events to stay updated and maintain the company's reputation in the sector.

Qualifications:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a Health and Safety role, ideally within the fitout or construction sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant IT systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
