The starting salary for this role will be between £57,868 - £63,755 per annum, working 36 hours per week.

We are appointing a Programme Manager for the Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) hosted in the Public Health team.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to lead on building an exciting new research platform which will address health inequalities through collaboration, building research capacity and evidence around the wider determinants of health. This post is funded by the NIHR HDRC grant funding for an initial 12 months, however this is likely to be extended further, subject to funding.

About the Role
The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is allocating funding to Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs) to boost research capacity and capability within local government. To date, NIHR have invested £65 million into helping 13 local authorities. In Dec 2023, Surrey County Council received development award funding (expected to become 'full' HDRCs on 1 January 2025) to tackle inequalities and improve health outcomes across through research and to create a pioneering Health Determinants Research Collaboration in Surrey.
This groundbreaking programme will be delivered through collaboration with the University of Surrey and in partnership with Districts and Boroughs as well as a wide range of partners within the community and voluntary sectors.
In this role you will oversee, plan, organise and communicate the start-up and ongoing functions of the Surrey HDRC programmes and ensure the NIHR reporting requirements are met. You'll coordinate and support the multi-disciplinary teams within the collaboration and support the HDRC implementation lead and will have a direct influence on the success of this collaborative research unit embedded within Surrey County Council.
Additionally, you will provide expert advice and guidance across the HDRC, through the management and oversight of the key pillars of Surrey HDRC programme, the collaboration across key partners, and the meaningful engagement with communities, maximising the potential for co-production with a range of diverse communities and the voluntary sector

- A demonstrable understanding of diversity, inclusion in research
- Sound collaboration experience and skills to manage complexities involved in consensus building and priority identification
- Previous experience of leading on successful academic grant application and publication in peer reviewed journals
- Good knowledge of epidemiology/public health/social science research methodology and research ethics
- A minimum of master degree in Public Health or social science relevant topic
