Health Protection Case Manager

4Recruitment Services are seeking  to appoint an enthusiastic Health Protection Case Manager to support the Public Health Directorate and Health Protection Service.  

The role will be focused on supporting the delivery of our clients  Health Protection prevention activities across the Bolton community  and settings, to meet their strong ambition for improving population health and Health Protection functions.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide Support and leadership on Health Protection prevention projects (e-Bug) with a strong focus on working across a wide range of statutory and non-statutory agencies and community and voluntary organisations.
• Be supporting the local outbreak plan in managing and organising response activity for infectious diseases, working closely with partners, and local people.
• be committed to project leadership within the directorate and across Bolton. You will be able to use your communication skills and Health Protection experience to negotiate with, and influence others at all levels.
• Be able to design, develop, interpret and influence Health Protection programmes of activity and manage project resources well. You will use your high level understanding of project management to inform your decisions and guide you in your commitment to public health principles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• To manage the Health Protection inbox.
• To manage and populate the Health Protection Case management system (ANS)  
• To support and develop integrated Health Protection including supporting prevention and intervention activities in relation to complex setting such as schools, primary care settings, large or high-risk workplaces, health and social care services and with underserved populations (i.e. rough sleepers, sex workers, asylum seekers).
• Ensure that consequence management / business continuity issues are addressed in relation to any settings-based Health Protection activity within Bolton
• Ensure that potentially vulnerable individuals or households within Bolton are supported if required to self-isolate
• Develop key partnerships to develop system capacity and resilience in managing the surveillance and control of infectious diseases.
• As part of a cycle of continuous improvement, identify and report opportunities to enhance the capacity and resilience of an integrated Health Protection function across Bolton borough.
• To ensure robust relationships with the GM Health Protection hub to ensure the best outcomes for Bolton’s population  
• To support any contact tracing activity either directly or by supporting other contact tracers in the outbreak management process to maximise the reach of contacts – all infectious diseases
• To provide progress/highlight reports and performance data reports on Health Protection activity and impact, regularly and on request

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• A good knowledge and understanding of Bolton’s geography and population.
• Good communication skills, written, verbal and non-verbal
• Ability to establish relationships and maintain contacts at all levels and across organisations including the voluntary and faith sectors.
• A working knowledge of MS Office products A/I
• An understanding of the potential impact of infectious diseases on a setting or individual
• Ability to proactively provide information to support planning and decision making
• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
• Experience of working in a complex setting or with under-served populations within Health Protection, infection prevention and control or related service area
• Experience of project management
• Experience of working both as an individual and as part of a team
