Our local authority client based in Bedfordshire are urgently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Adviser.
*£23 an hour Umbrella - Negotiable*
Your Team
- As part of the Public Protection and Transport service, Corporate Health and Safety provides the council's internal services, work programmes and maintained schools with proportionate and 'sensible risk' based H&S advice, guidance and support. This helps to keep staff and customers safe and ensures that the council may fulfil its H&S legal duties. Your
Customers
- Council managers and staff; schools, head teachers and governing bodies; trade unions; elected members; enforcing authorities; other local authorities; external suppliers, partners and contractors; internal services including Assets and Facilities Management, Human Resources and Insurance.
Your Role
- You will need a minimum of a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational H&S or equivalent (Advisor) and/or a Degree level health and safety qualification (Manager).
- Deliver H&S advice and support to a diverse range of services and risk areas, including conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Communicate H&S in a clear, non-technical and compelling way through documented guidance and tools, training, risk assessments, reports, briefings and direct advice.
- Respond promptly to new and unexpected situations, using risk assessed judgements to prioritise and plan.
- Monitor, maintain, manage and deliver information in third party software and office applications.
